    Question ldap error in dapper

    Hi,

This is my first post here.

I have been trying to make Zimbra 4.5.5 work on ubuntu dapper drake and was quite successful when this particular error hit me in my face.

    Starting ldap...Done.
    FAILED
/opt/zimbra/lib/conf/zimbra-hsm.schema: line 1: ObjectIdentifier "ZimbraHsmAttrType" previously defined "1.3.6.1.4.1.19348.2.4"ERROR - failed to start slapd
This particular error came up when i tried to setup another domain (because i was trying to use multiple domain.)

When i dig mail.mydomain.com i get no error at all:

    dig mail.mydomain.com any

    ; <<>> DiG 9.3.2 <<>> mail.mydomain.com any

and if i nslookup: it points to my own machine. so I'm pretty sure that my DNS configuration is correct (besides it was running perfectly already before the error above.)

    nslookup mail.mydomain.com
    Server: 192.168.20.50
    Address: 192.168.20.50#53

    Name: mail.mydomain.com
    Address: 192.168.20.50
Everything was working fine and my server was already working great for 48hrs, until i tried multiple domains.

I reverted back my DNS config to its original form, and after that, im already getting the error mentioned above.

    1. Any idea on how i can resolve this? I can't seem to find a link here in the forum that points me exactly on how to resolve this error.
    2. Also, should i do any modification in my DNS config if i do multiple domains? My mail server is behind the firewall.

I would really appreciate any feedback and assistance on this matter.

Thank you very much in advance.

You'll probably need help from Zimbra for a full answer.

I can tell you this is an LDAP error and that the LDAP attribute is defined twice. It may be in the one file or in different files, it depends on you what you have. I'll bet that someone has edited one of the schema files (which I've done myself with a bad edit and got this error).

There could be other reasons but I don't know them yet but maybe including a schema twice could cause this or a reuse of a number. The number "1.3.6.1.4.1.19348.2.4" may be the item number being reused. (I forget the correct name for the scheme numbering system).

Thank you for the feedback djve. I really appreciate that.

As for now, i'll wait and wish that a mod or zimbra employee gives me some light about my current problem.

We are seriously considering zimbra on ubuntu (for a network edition) that is we are as much as possible learning the ins and the outs...

    Thanks again.

Yeah, looks like an error with network edition.

Can you install the Open Source edition, then try an upgrade?

in fact i'm currently using a OSS version when that particular error happened. But i guess i don't have that error anymore as of now since i re-installed everything and my Zimbra test run is running smoothly as of the moment.

Thanks for all the help and inputs.
