lol-Guess it's nice to know that if I ever go missing for 4hrs someone notices...I got like 30 emails in one account alone in that time-don't worry i'll get to ya
I could give you all the CLI commands but it's easiest if you just open our admin console and to 'global settings' IMAP & POP tabs (hard to mess up checkboxes)
-check enable clear text login
-set your specific ports, etc.
-zmcontrol stop/start afterwards
As a Note: Anything set specifically under the same tabs in 'servers' will override the global setting. Therefore it's best to leave these alone if your only using one box.
But do see the server>services tab for a quick way to enable/disable stuff

ahh so i need to enable cleartext login? Or can I use IMAP without turning cleartext on?
Also, how do I sync my mobile with zimbra? I use a sonyericsson p910i (symbian), i have checked symbian mobile, but I don't know how to access mobile functions....and push email too
I'm not a haevy evolution user-could walk you through what boxes to check on thunderbird
-so just check it for now
Is this with or without the evolution connector?
Assuming this is on your NE trial/licensed box (OS doesn't have zimbra)
yes the Sony Ericsson P900 Series is supported
setup info here:Mobile Device Setup - ZimbraWiki
For push-the 910 needs a little extra:

thanks! is thunderbird better than evolution? i use ubuntu feisty, and i think evolution is integrated to the date/calendar on the upper right side of the top taskbar. also, i got an error while installing zdesktop:

I'm not gonna start a 3rd party email client fight
post your zimbra desktop issues in a new thread here: http://www.zimbra.com/forums/zimbra-desktop/
keep in mind it's in alpha-no direct zimbra support portal help yet

hmmm...tried roadsync....looks nice but a couple issues tho....
1. it can only open 1 email account
2. it does not open additional folders aside from inbox.
what would be its advantages over blackberry connect? I use blackberry connect before (internet version), and I can pull 2 email accounts with a p910 (should have been 5 but I couldn't seem to get the other service books to load on my phone).
Currently, my zimbra email is configured with 2 email addresses, my main email and an alias and I just create a rule to move the messages for the personal email address (the email alias) to a separate folder....however with dataviz roadsync i cannot seem to get that folder eventhough it says on their manual that it should open other folders as well
i am still using the trial versino of roadsync...will buy if i can get it to work
