Default export zimbra data to another system

    Hi,

In case someone wants to migrate away from Zimbra (Open Source Edition) to another system for some reason, how can all the data (i.e. mail, contacts, tasks, calendars, ...) be exported from Zimbra to some external format so that it can be imported in the new system ?

With the network edition it's rather easy I guess: just setup outlook to connect with Zimbra and export all data to a pst file.
Then setup outlook to connect with the new system and import all data from that pst file.
But this approach doesn't apply to the Open Source Edition as far as I know

Before migrating, I want to know I'm not stuck with Zimbra in case it doesn't work out for some reason (whatever that reason may be)

You can get data both in and out in multiple ways-imapsync mail to/from another machine, import/export calendars as ical format (.ics), import/export contacts as comma separated values (.csv), documents can be saved as RTF format as well as HTML, etc.
Though I certainly hope that once you undergo the 'zimbra revolution'-you won't be forced to go back

Thanks, I too hope that I won't have to go back, but you never know

Anyway, where are those "tools" located to export the data (admin interface, user's web interface, command line, ...) ?

imapsync (just search) User Migration - ZimbraWiki freshmeat.net: Project details for imapsync

Users can import/export .ics for calendars & .csv for contacts from the web-client. (in versions 4.5.6 & prior see options tab, in v5 betas that has been renamed preferences)

Even easier, search REST & CURL in the forums - some key docs on it:
    http://www.zimbra.com/blog/archives/...st_update.html
    http://www.zimbra.com/blog/archives/..._via_re_1.html
    http://www.zimbra.com/blog/archives/...st_and_no.html

The CLI Zmmailbox will also help you out.
