Default Move from Ubuntu 6.06 to 8.04

Could anyone help me or point me to information that would help migrating Zimbra Open Source 32bit x86 from Ubuntu 6.06 to 8.04?

    Thanks!

hmmmm.... seems to be my question too, before I really work on this one. I have an idea but would like to see some neat how-to from the experts.

Talking I'd love to see a guide

I want a guide that takes you through a distribution upgrade directly from 6.06 to 8.04!

I have ran 8.04 for months now with Zimbra, never using it on 6.0g.
However, would it not just be a case of:

Editing you apt sources to replace Dapper with hardy.
    Run 'apt-get update'
    Run 'apt-get dist-upgrade' (I advise a reboot here though)
Then install the 8.04 package as an upgrade?

I installed the 8.04 as an upgrade from the 6.06 specific package with no issues, this was upgrading from 5.0.8 to 5.0.9 of zimbra though.

Or do you mean migrating it from one box to another?

I make a test with this operation on Ubuntu with this procedure:

stop zimbra on main host (6.06); after that create an arhive with /opt/zimbra an move her to the new server.

On the new server with 8.04 install the same version and at the end stop zimbra. Remove folder /opt/zimbra and replace him with the one from arhive.

Now, repair permisions and reinstall ZIMBRA; should work!

Default I upgraded successfully last night.

stopped zimbra, backed up /opt/zimbra, upgraded ubuntu(ran into some snags took about 2 hrs), upgraded zimbra just worked.

Only issue is that all of my customers are sending me emails complaining of huge influx of spam.

I think the Zimbra upgrade may have removed any custom Spam rules you had in place. If you modified your salocal.cf.in those changes do not persist during upgrades.

I do not know if upgrades also remove the SA training.

I know that it created a new SA account. My old one is still in there though. know of a way to switch back to my old one?

Did this really work? I can see that you're still in 5.06, or you just didn't upgrade your profile?

If this one works already, then I suggest to kindly post a step-by-step how to for newbies like me....
