[SOLVED] OpenLDAP Migration to Zimbra's LDAP Version
My current OpenLDAP ldap schema is built this way:
core OpenLDAP Core schema
cosine RFC1274: Cosine and Internet X.500 schema
inetorgperson inetorgperson.schema -- InetOrgPerson (RFC2798)
nis This work is part of OpenLDAP Software
This allows Evolution clients to have full R/W to the directory - standard InetOrgPerson attributes and ones specific to Evolution. However, other clients like Thunderbird can read but not write to all attribute types.
1. Can I import my current ldif records into Zimbra's version of Ldap?
2. Will my Evolution & Thunderbird clients be able to read and write to it's custom schema?
3. What attribute types are available?
Importing openldap Addresses into Zimbra
After reading the Admin guide I have discovered that account address books are not stored in the Zimbra ldap so importing my openldap ldif to zimbra seems like a no go.
What about importing my current ldap file into a "shared address book" or keep my open ldap server running to give clients access to those addresses.?
-Any conflicts with running openldap server and zimbra ldap on the same server?
-Assuming that a shared accounts address book can be usesd - are there permissions issues for adding new contacts by accounts sharing the address book?

Thanks for the reply,
I am not sure what you mean by "GAL for your domain to "Both" mode". I did not know GAL can work in different "modes". I'll read through my guides and see what I can find. I understand that GAL is a Zimbra's feature / your company directory.
If possible give me a few more details so I can search this out.
