Default Migrating Zimbra from 4.5.10 to 5.0.10

    Dear friends,

I'm a ZCS version 4.5.10 user, so, it's time to upgrade to a new version - 6.0.6. But I have some a doubt:
1-) I need to export user accounts, so, I've read that it's possible by using the following command:
    /opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m user@domain.com getRestURL “//?fmt=tgz” > /tmp/account.tgz
But I've checked that the command it's only available on 5.x versions.
So, do I need migrating from 4.5.10 to 5.x, exporting accounts and finally upgrading from 5.x to 6.0.6? If it's correct, what are the steps to do it?

    Thanks a lot.

    HTR.

Correct, there's no .tgz format in 4.5 just .zip
Are you upgrading the server or moving to another server/so you can keep the original as is?

    If upgrading:
-Take a backup Backup and Restore Articles - Zimbra :: Wiki (i'd recommend a full copy of of /opt/zimbra).
If you have any replicas see: http://www.zimbra.com/announcements/...5-x-5-0-x.html
    -Upgrade to 5.0.24 (./install.sh)
    -Upgrade to 6.0.7
    -Test

    If migrating:
-Have you considered just 'copying' the 4.5.10 to another isolated location? One such method Moving ZCS to Another Server » Zimbra :: Blog (that method assume same hostname so give it fake dns but don't get it mixed up with live).
-Of course if you have virtual machine related options snapshots/cloning that's good too.

    Hello Mike,

the idea is: install the newest Zimbra version in a newest CentOS version in a new machine, but I'll keep the hostname and its IP. So, I'm afraid of losing the user accounts (of course). So, for me, your tip refers to an upgrade, isn't it?

    Regards,

    HTR.
