Default User Migration from /etc/shadow to Zimbra LDAP

I have my Zimbra 4.5.4 network edition running with no problems on RHEL4. The problem is now how to migrate my old user accounts from the old box (also running RHEL4) to the new Zimbra server so that my users can start using Zimbra.

My old mail server is postfix based (MailScan for Linux) and I am not using LDAP authentication on the old mail server. The old box is using /etc/shadow kind of authentication.

My installation is quite huge (1000 users and more). Recreating user accounts on the new Zimbra box is tormenting. How can I import these users into the Zimbra LDAP?

Note that at this moment, I am only interested in migrating the user account details (username, password, Full name). Migration of the actual mail is not a big deal. Most of my clients are using pop3 to pop out their mail so there is little mail on the old mail server.

Take a look at this sourceforge project:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/yap2lc/

It moved passwd users to ldap.

    Disclaimer:
I only know one person who ever used this with zimbra, and he's not around anymore. I have no idea how to use it, but it works.
You're gonna need to do a little sleuthing on the forums for how to get it to work.

Good luck, and if you have any questions, let us know.
