Default Migrating from Zimbra 4.1 FC5 to Zimbra 4.5 OSX

I have been needing to upgrade Zimbra on my FC5 server and have not had the time. However now I am having hardware issues on that system and need to move the entire zimbra installation. I am looking at moving this over to OSX on my old mac (just got a new macbook pro) since I have this hardware. How would one go about doing this?

I would do a cold copy of /opt/zimbra if this were a FC5 to FC5 move, however it is a completely different platform.

Thanks for any insight anyone has.

    Alton

OS X can be kind of a difficult platform to migrate to because it bundles it's own Java. On Linux distro's, we bundle it.

My advice would be to get the Network Edition Trial, and run a total full backup. Then install the NE trial on your OS X machine, and restore.

I currently use the opensource edition and am not prepared for purchasing the network edition. Once the trial expires what happens?

You can downgrade after you're done.
My intent is not to sell you the Network Edition, but to get you migrated.

    I'm not a salesman.

You know what. . we don't have a FC5 Network edition.

    You otta rsync the /opt/zimbra
folder over to the mac machine, and follow the open source backup and restoration procedure in the wiki.

Thanks....didn't think you were attempting to sell it to me just wanted to make sure my mail server didn't expire though

On the rsync front, will that work, since in /opt/zimbra you have the various "best of breed" apps that make up zimbra such as postfix, etc... and these would have binaries that were originally compiled on linux?

    Thanks for all your advice.

    No prob.
When you follow the procedure in the wiki, you will replace all of the binaries with the OS X ones.
