bad spam getting thru

Ok. I appreciate the help. I was afraid it might come down to needing a front-end server that does all the spam filtering.Any recomendations on a Linux OS? I prefer Ubuntu, but have worked with Fedora Core as well. I haven't really had any experience with other flavors of Linux. Whatever OS it i...

Okay, I ran the exact command you listed. I opened the sadebug file that was created. This was the only line in it:
sudo: spamassassin: command not found
If I do a find command, this is what I get:
sudo find / -name spamassassin /opt/zimbra/conf/spamassassin
The only file...

bad spam getting thru

No it does not. If I want to run a process as another user, I must give the sudo command a [-u username] option. If I type "sudo -i zimbra", UBUNTU thinks I am trying to run the command "-i zimbra" as root.Is "spamassassin" the name of the file you are trying to get me t...

Ok, I have the correct syntax now, but the file "spamassassin" you are asking me to run is a folder, not a file or command.
sudo -u zimbra -i /opt/zimbra/conf/spamassassin -D --lint > /tmp/tempfile 2>&1
What is the "-D --lint" switch supposed to do? I think ther...

bad spam getting thru

Oh. No I did a sudo command. I don't think I ever setup a "zimbra" account password. I am running on Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, so I cannot log into root either, I can only sudo. Or if I want to run a command as Zimbra, I do a "sudo -u zimbra ".I've looked back in my change control...

the spamassassin command was not found. I am only using what came with Zimbra. Is there a different command to run that will give me the same output?

bad spam getting thru

I know this post is slightly stale, but I have been trying to seach the forums rather than start new posts. I found your suggestiong of using the Kevin McGrail rules suggestion interesting so I decided to apply it (about a month ago). However, the spam on my server has not been reduced at all. In fac...

[SOLVED] ***unchecked***

Modifying this code in AMAVISD fixed it:
$undecipherable_subject_tag = '***UNCHECKED*** ';
I finally found it on the web just before you posted, but thank you! We changed the value to just '* ' so that at least we know when messages are not being scanned for viruses but ...

[SOLVED] ***unchecked***

Does anyone know how to remove the **UNCHECKED** heading that is appeaded to an email subject if the anti-virus does not check for viruses?
I believe I earlier mistakenly thought this came from SpamAssassin, but it seems to come from the anti-virus.

[SOLVED] ***unchecked***

Will this affect messages being scanned by ClamAV? The **unchecked** message appears to come from ClamAV not from SpamAssassin.
Or maybe I am missing something and the two products are one in the same on Zimbra?
