3GB mailbox size you will have some kind of issue properly with any email client, especially if they have huge amount (1000+) of emails left in the inbox and not sort into sub folders. auto-repaire will not fix those.
Those error are generated by mysqlcheck, which is a mysql tool, not exactly a zimbra tool. And it is a well know "error" that is safe to ignore.

Well, if its not broken, don't fix it :p
But if you are so eager to do it:

(1)Full backup the whole drive 1st if possible.

(2)Upgrade OS

(3)Upgrade Zimbra

One possibility is the way username/password are sent. Does your zimbra server permit pop3 clear text login? Maybe give that a try.

Create a zimbra user for the scanner device, configure your scanner device to use that zimbra server as out going smtp. Or do you mean your firewall is blocking out going traffic for port 25?

Service snmp stops, then starts on mta

Didn't they restart themselves within a minute or two?
I do observe some services would restart in the morning occasionally. Mostly with v5.x-6.x. With 6.x happen much less. They auto restart 99% of the time. Only recall have to manually restart like 2 times.
