Re: Handling emails with dots

You can create all the aliases you want, and can script them from the CLI too if you wish. I too feel that too many aliases is a bad thing, as it opens you up to receiving more spam. Further, allowing users to log in with their account aliases, although the default behavior, many consider to be a se...

Sounds like you are not configured to log the originating IP address. https://wiki.zimbra.com/wiki/Log_Files#Logging_the_Originating_IP ...and if you are interested: https://www.missioncriticalemail.com/2020/06/08/zimbra-fail2ban-for-submission-only/ https://www.missioncriticalemail.com/2018/10/19/u...

Re: How to plan backups with BackupNG

Backup NG does dedupe and compression on the fly, so uses less storage than you might think. In my experience, 30 days’ of Classic backups takes about 3x the mail store size, whereas 30 days’ of NG backups takes only about 80% of your mail store size. If it were me, I’d set the NG retention to 400 d...

Re: 8.8.15-p11 installed - yum update suggests installing more zimbra stuff??

Happens even on fresh installs.

Always run yum update or apt-get update && app-get dist-upgrade after every fresh install or patch update.

I consider this a bug and filed a Support Case with Zimbra for it.

Hope that helps,
Mark

Re: zmmailboxdctl is not running (NoSuchMethodException)

Hi Mark, Thank you again for your support. I already tried different upgrade paths, including the most simple (staying within same ubuntu version). The following paths were tried (as described in my initial post): 8.8.11_Ubuntu16.04 => 8.8.12_Ubuntu16.04 => 8.8.15_Ubuntu16.04 8.8.11_Ubuntu16.04 => ...

Re: zmmailboxdctl is not running (NoSuchMethodException)

I would say then that your problem is likely related to the Ubuntu upgrade you are doing in tandem with your Zimbra upgrade to 8.8.15. Try the in-place upgrade to 8.8.15 without upgrading Ubuntu; if mailboxd starts then you know for sure it’s an OS issue, and I would suggest then doing a side-by-sid...

Re: zmmailboxdctl is not running (NoSuchMethodException)

This is what I am running; vetted by Zimbra Support on two different Support Cases. 8.8.15 Network Edition Patch 10, Ubuntu 16.04. zimbra@mb18:~$ zmlocalconfig mailboxd_java_options mailboxd_java_options = -server -Dhttps.protocols=TLSv1,TLSv1.1,TLSv1.2 -Djdk.tls.client.protocols=TLSv1,TLSv1.1,TLSv1...
