Problems with national characters
There seems to be some kind of problem with national characters, e.g. the Swedish 'Å', 'Ä', 'Ö'. It looks like ÅÄÖ is exchanged for two bytes characters...
If you look at the headers for the Zimbra-generated message,...

folders with leading spaces, other small issues...
I also have a few smaller issues: the store is basically flat. 2 issues here: the message->folder db takes extra disk space (my db/data is ~300MB so far, and I've only migrated 34k messages, about 1.6G). Also, a db corruption means the store structure is lost...

Received Date Appears to be Incorrect for Imported Mail

I don't believe that IMAP permits you to change the INTERNALDATE for existing messages, so you may be stuck with doing a re-import. We'll note this imapsync flag in the migration instructions so that other folks don't have the same issues.

Received Date Appears to be Incorrect for Imported Mail

The "received date" should be the same as the IMAP INTERNALDATE. Does imapsync specify an explicit INTERNALDATE when it APPENDs the messages?

folders with leading spaces, other small issues...
I've run into a major snag, though: Zimbra appears to ignore leading spaces in IMAP folder names. It appears to simply strip them, which confuses my mail client (Thunderbird) and has broken migration of my store (I'm using imapsync).
That's a ...

postgresql port?

The databse code is, by and large, found in com.zimbra.cs.db. There are a few MySQL-isms in there that may cause problems when you try to port to a different database: a few uses of GROUP_CONCAT (maybe done via a user-defined aggregate?), a couple calls to LAST_INSERT_ID, etc. But, in general, it sh...

notify when new mail has arrived
if i am correct, the unread count in the folder lists only updates when you click on one of the folders.
Actually, it updates on any user action that causes a call to the server. It also updates after 5 minutes of idle time.

imap not working

If Thunderbird is trying to log in without using TLS, the default configuration won't allow it for security reasons. Try configuring Thunderbird to either: (a) send a STARTTLS command [not sure how to do this], or (b) use sIMAP on port 993 [Account Settings > Server Settings > Use Secure Connect...
