you can't distribute them by that way, but if you have multiple mailbox servers, zimbra will distribute them between the servers. I don't recall exactly how it determines where to put a user's mailbox upon creation if it's just round robin or somethig more intelligent

No running normal updates shouldn't affect zimbra since it's mostly self contained and doesn't depend on very many system packages, and most distributions don't make such drastic changes within the same release.

pretty sure this can only be done with zmtlsctl. a quick poke around the 8.x admin console I didn't see any way to do it via the gui
