So, have you actually:
a) logged on as different users with varying mailbox sizes
b) using different browsers
c) on different LAN computers
and recorded and analysed the results to look for anomalies?
The information you're giving us to go on at the moment is a bit vague :)

I would try logging on as various different users on the same computer and on different browsers. Record your results (load times) so you can compare and hopefully eliminate the user/browser/computer.

You probably replied before seeing my above edit, but could you outline in detail the steps you take to reproduce each error that you receive in Firebug and what the outcome is (does it get shared, do the invitation emails get sent etc?)
