To solve the problem try add in smb.conf in [global] section
    ldap passwd sync = Yes

and as user zimbra run the command
    zmlocalconfig -e ldap_cache_account_maxage=1

it will clear cache of zimbra's ldap every 1 minutes (15 min by default) and password will synchronize after 1 minutes,
for my users 1 minute it's time to login into computer, open browser and login to zimbra

I did a deployment last week, and worked perfectly, just like 6 do!

No particular issues, except the zimlets icon not showing up in admin interface.

Nice to hear that..I followed the howtoforge article and used the wiki article where needed:
in section 9 - More Zimbra Configuration, since the configuration changed (no slapd.conf.in file any more) I used the wiki article about adding ldap schemas.
And I installed the two users using posixusers.ldif.

"Then after the samba configuration I should see the samba domain."
This is where I am stuck, I don't see my domain.

I am using a split dns setup and the dig and hostname commands are not showing unusual answers (I attached the log).

    samba conf file:
    Code:

A logout/login from the admin console has always worked for me, the zimlets seem to need that refresh .

Unfortunately for me it's not the browser issue..I'm using firefox on Ubuntu 10.4 and 10.10 .
I'll happily post more logs/info if needed to investigate some more..

I've successfully installed this configuration on Zimbra 7 CentOS5_64 FOSS.
The only thing I changed was add machine script in smb.conf from :

    PHP Code:
    add machine script = /usr/sbin/adduser --shell /bin/false --disabled-password --quiet --gecos "machine account" --force-badname %
    in

    PHP Code:
    add machine script = /usr/sbin/useradd  -"Workstation (%u)" --/nohome -/bin/false "%u"
