Alternatively, you can save the 3 user data dirs:derby, store, index, and follow these instructions to do a manual uninstall, then do a fresh installation of RC2 (build 1513).

Default New build same error nothing resolves

Exactly the same Error with the new build. Plus one more error which is now at the end of installation it says Failed to inject zimlets:

My user account which is gem is an Administrator account as I wrote earlier.

I Uninstalled my zdesktop_1_0_build_1482_win32.

Then I deleted :
C:\Users\gem\AppData\Local\Zimbra
C:\Users\gem\AppData\Roaming\Yahoo! Inc
C:\Users\gem\AppData\Roaming\Yahoo!\Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop
C:\Users\gem\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Extensions\zd esktop@zimbra.com

Then I run "Ccleaner" and "Advanced System Care 3" to remove any obsolute registry key entries and temporary files releated with zimbra installation.

I restarted my computer and start the new build zdesktop_1_0_build_1513_win32 from scratch. Then I restart my computer after the installation finishes. I checked and and see that “Yahoo Zimbra Desktop Service" is working. Then I tried to start zimbra I get exactly the same error again.

It tries to open for 3-5 min. then gives this message again:

[JavaScript Application]
Couldn't access Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop server. If issue persists after reinstall, please check logs for errors and report to Zimbra Desktop - Zimbra - Forums.

When I manually enter my browser "http://localhost:7633/desktop/login.jsp", I see:

Angry Same trouble here...

I was in Zimbra Desktop a little earlier, seemed to be working fine.

I received a few messages in my inbox. I went to look at one of them, and ZD froze with the spinning donut (Vista Ultimate here).

Eventually, a message popped up similar to the OP's - cannot contact server, if the problem exists after reinstall, post logs, etc...

So, here are my logs.

I have tried everything I can think of... stopped restarted zdesktop service, reinstalled ZD, removed ZD through Add/Remove, and re-installed ZD afterward.

No joy, still get the error on startup, and cannot use Zimbra Desktop at all.

I know, I know, ZDesktop has it's own JRE -BUT, I installed Sun Java JRE 6.12 update almost exactly 24 hours ago...seems an interesting coincidence.

Can you go to Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services->Yahoo! Zimbra Desktop Service and try to manually start it?

Please re-read my original post.

I have done this already.

I just tried it again, and same result. Zimbra Desktop will not open.

Yes, I found the following events, which is just about the time Y!ZD crashed with the error message and stopped working.

I edited the hosts file, and replaced the 127.0.0.1 localhost entry as suggested on another thread, but that didn't immediately help.

The second event below seems to hold more useful information about the problem. I did not make any security setting changes on my computer, and I have full admin rights on the machine as well.

It looks like a Windows Defender update (which I ran just prior to the trouble with Y!ZD) caused the application to crash.

Another Defender update is installing now....stand by
.
.
.
.
and now... Y!ZD is operational again.

Thanks, Microsoft; geesh!

Smile Confirmed

I also had a note in Window's Defender that something has attempted to modify the HOST file and did something to remove any malacious malware.

The result was zimbra unable to load.

Last user stated he updated windows defender and the problem was resolved.

Attempting similar fix. Can I get a link to what was necessary in regards to fixing the host file? If no response, will search and post here to share for others.

Thank you for sharing the resolution.

May suggest zimbra talk to microsoft to make sure that zimbra won't be considered malware in the future.

-------Thanks SiliconJunkie----------- (for below post)

Summarized Solution here.

Open the hosts file in Notepad. The hosts file is found in %systemroot%\system32\drivers\etc

Good luck.
