Have a look at these instructions and check them against your DNS setup. These settings will work OK.

I have no problems receiving email, and I have run the ssh key generation commands posted previously. All other aspects work from my installation. My server has a public IP only and has a FQDN. I have also tried editing my /etc/hosts file and adding a line for my servers IP and FQDN.

I have an admin user on my server that I created an ssh keypair for, and put the contents of id_rsa.pub into the authorized_keys file in the users .ssh folder. with that account I can ssh locally with no password using the keys. If I try the same thing with the zimbra user, it prompts me for a password. I have used the zmsshkeygen and zmupdateauthkeys to recreate the keypairs, and I have done it manually, both give the same result of needing a password.

Is there anything else I can check?

    Thanks

OK, I am somewhat confused, but after running a /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmfixperms all is well.

    Hello everyone...
I am just testing zimbra, and I seem to be running head on into a very similar brick wall.

I have seemingly missed something obvious... and I need another set of nurons to take a stab at this...

The setup is in a contained test environment. The domain zimbra is runing on is 'zimbra.testbench.local'. I have attempted resetting everything and reinstalling, but nothing seems to help.

When I send mail to the default admin account (admin@zimbra.testbench.local) I get a bounce back and a log entry 'Host or domain not found. Name service error for name=zimmail.zimbra.testbench.local type=A: Host not found) But a few lines earlier I see a 'Connect from zimmail.zimbra.testbench.local[10.10.1.109]'

If I do a dig, host, or nslookup on the box, I get a proper response. I have verified my /etc/hosts file is correct and my resover settings point to the testbench dns server.

Any thoughts on what I need to look at again?
Thanks in advance for your input. -Cheers, Peter.

    Try dig -A (hostname)

What ever DNS server your are resolving to, needs an A record.
