It didn't 'drop' anything, this has been covered many times but the posix Zimlets were never officially supported by Zimbra and it's always been a Community supported feature.

I think it is simply difficult to accept since the official zimbra downloads used to ship with these zimlets included.

I understand that and the reason they were originally shipped with Zimbra (I guess) is that they were written by a Zimbra employee. They zimlets (and documentation) were written for the Community and never officially supported by Zimbra.

Then, advocate and make VMware understand that document management is important to its customers. This has been a sore point for all of us since Yahoo days under 4.0. Samba is a great solution next to expensive ones like Alfresco.

    Hi guys,
did anyone already manage to get the POSIX Zimlet working on Zimbra 8.0? If not, does anyone know working documentation on how to write admin extensions for 8.0?

    Thanks!

It should be the same as the current documentation.

not sure about that, they changed the ldap schema in 8 so there could be some differences.

I've already search the forum, that's the reason I'm asking here. A search for "posix" within the last 3 month results in 7 threads. Non of them talking about Zimbra 8.0 and the posix extension. Only maybe the one in the italian forum

If you have a link, I'd appreciate that.

Also I've tried to use the Zimlet which is available on the gallery, but it does not work for me. Should it?

Ok, good to know, because the documentation is marked for Zimbra 6.0.

Thanks for that warning. I keep that in mind if I have to touch the code at all. Right now it sounds like someone else already did the dirty work
