You do have to start safari in login. It keeps your cookie for as long as you tell it too.
like i mean, i can login to iZimbra then view my mail contacts and also my calendar right?
    yes
but if I go to contacts (from the phone setting in iphone, or view calendar from the main screen) do I see the zimbra contacts as well?
If you have the iSync Connector, then contacts will sync to the native Contacts app in the iphone.

Otherwise, anything you do, has to be in the iZimbra web-app

It is a web application and not a native one.

    ahem-
iZimbra will work on any phone with a web browser. . . </hint>

    At least that's our goal.

currently leaning towards iphone over p1i....coz p1i doesn't have edge (i'm using tmobile so the best thing for me is edge and not 3g)....

now if you can integrate the izimbra to the native contacts and calendar seemlessly then there's a winner already heheheh.....

dang and i just bought a new 2gb memory stick pro for my p910 lol......

btw, since you're an existing iphone user, what are your thoughts on this phone? feature-wise? does it allow you to install custom apps, like ssh programs, chat, etc?

    thanks again

    Yours. . for free. . in 5.0

txt instructions are in the wiki page
could you please point me to that wiki page or any other page where I can see how to get it working?

I installed 5.0 RC1 and was a bit disappointed to see that it differs from the hosted demo in this crucial detail (no iZimbra), and there are no instructions on how to get the iZimbra behaviour in any easy-to-find place.

Not sure what you mean. RC1 most certainly does have the iZimbra (Mobile) web client. Append /m/ to the end of your url, or select Mobile from the drop down on the doing screen. The only difference between RC1 download and the hosted demo is that the Hosted Demo is running the Network Edition. The iZimbra client is available in the Open Source Edition.

Because the client is web-based, there is not installation process. . .hence the lack of instructions for install. just put /m/ at the end of the web url.

    what I mean is:
the hosted demo offers the choices: advanced/standard/mobile.

When I install 5.0 RC1, I only get advanced and standard as options, no mobile.

Adding /m to the URL does not help, it just brings me back to the same old screen without any mobile option.

    What am I doing wrong?

My temporary test installation is here, btw: zimbra5.mirsystems.info

    Hi-
i'm sorry, there was a change in the way that we handle it, that I didn't know about

    append: ?client=mobile to your url

    cool! thanks!

Maybe it would be helpful if you could point this out somewhere in the documentation. I found it quite non-obvious, also because the "mobile" option does not seem to be in the drop-down box unless you add that to the URL.

Sorry, but I have another two more problems:

    1. https does not work for mobile - do I need to switch anything on for that? Currently I don't get any page if I try https://mydomain/?client=mobile . But SSL would be useful especially for reading my mail in a public place over a wireless network.

    2. remark: when I logged in for the first time and clicked on the inbox in the mobile interface, I got a Java class not found error. Second time worked, strangely enough.
