Default How to accelerate enhancement development

    Hello,

I would like to know if there is a way to have an enhancement developed by Zimbra team to be integrated in the next version, if this enhancement is not yet planned (in bugzilla database).

For example, is it possible to contribute with money ?

    Thanks for response.

If you we're a NE customer you could open a support case and have them add/tag it to the RFE - the more paying customers ask the higher it gets ranked. If it's something very organization specific you could always talk to sales to see what could be done. But first you should really tell us the feature idea because there may already be something in the works. We ask that people search bugzilla throughly to see if it already exists (sounds like you did this part) then get an RFE open.

At the moment, we're not NE customer.
Potentially, there could be others enhancements that we're interested in. But the most important I'm thinking about is the ability to see calendars as a tree : see my post here, to which you answered.
At the moment, it is not planned, and I have no idea when it could be done. So, I can't reassure users, who have a need of this feature.

I think it would not be a very huge work, as some part of this feature already work (If I create a calendar subfolder through zmmailbox commandline, it appears on web client, but it provoke problems, see : my post).
But if I have to do the work on my own :
    - I will loose lot of time to search in Zimbra code
    - I will put some messy code in Zimbra, and take the risk to create bugs
    - I will spend time that Zimbra will also spend on a later time

What do you suggest us to do for this feature ?

Just had another convo on this earlier today actually: http://www.zimbra.com/forums/adminis...calendars.html
From your older thread the issue was:

And calendars list is empty when modifying an appointment.
Could you give repo steps on 5.0GA? (Are you still on 4.5.6_GA_1044.DEBIAN3.1 DEBIAN3.1 FOSS Debian Etch 4.0?) I can select them when making an appointment using standard or quick add - see pic:

I am currently in 4.8. Do you mean my problem would be resolved in 5.0 ?
It would be really nice !!

I think I will install it in short time, as I saw other very interesting new features.
    Thanks again for your help.

If you don't mind using CLI to do so that is, as you can't create sub-folders from the web client yet. Plus the slight display name thing & any sharing issues (remember you saying that secretaries handle appointments for other some users).

Really hate to bring your excitement down a notch -because 5.0 is great! :O but as you're on Debian you should read: http://www.zimbra.com/forums/install...ebian-4-a.html
Keep an eye on /products/sunset_binaries.html & the announcements section (there's going to be a 4.5.10/4.5.11 to address this).
Do get on 4.5.10 though, & don't forget to make a backup!

Thanks for your advice about Zimbra 5.0 / Debian 4.0 migration. As we are still in development phase (Zimbra is used as calendar core in a web application). Maybe I will start from scratch on a new server, to avoid a not necessary migration...

For the moment, there is no need to create them using web client. I plan to create these subfolders using SOAP. I suppose it should work, as it works through CLI...
I think the slight display name thing should be accepted by users.
So, from what you say, the only thing that could annoy me, is "sharing issues". I just made a test on 4.5.6 (in fact, I have 2 Zimbra servers : 4.5.6 for my tests, and 4.5.8 for users tests) : after mounting another user folder as subfolder, appointments of this subfolder doesn't appear...
    Code:
    mbox user2@server> createMountpoint --view appointment "/user1/Given name" user1 /user1_shared_folder
    => user1's appointments don't display in user2 web client.

Do you know if this is fixed in 5.0 ? What did you mean, by telling "sharing issues" ? Are they listed somewhere ?

    ----- Edit -----

I forgot to read your link to "best practice: grouping shared calendars" post, before replying !
So, I think I have the answer : It seems to work better in 5.0 release, appart checkboxes state that are not saved...
I hope there are no other serious issues...
