Can anyone tell me what mail clients can connect to zimbra using the open source edition? I'm needing to know if I need to purchase one of the network editions on order to use mail clients such as MS OUtlook, Evolution and Thunderbird.
I believe that in order to use Outlook you need to purchase one of the network editions but I'm not sure about the other 2 I specified above.
any mail client that can access pop3 or imap can access the zimbra server (assuming the server has pop and/or imap enabled). outlook, outlook express, thunderbird, evolution all qualify.
if you'd like to use outlook to access calendar appointments etc from the zimbra server, *then* you need the network edition for the zcs connector for outlook
SO let me make sure that I've got this right.
If I want to use Outlook as my mail client and I want to use calendaring and the Global Address list from the LDAP server then I have to purchase the network edition.
If I want to use Thunderbird as my mail client and I want to use calendaring and the Global Address list from the LDAP server then I can get away with the open source edition?
Also what about blackberry support, I keep hearing that it's built into Zimbra, is that true?
obviously you can use the calendar in any program you want, but if you want to sync the calendar between a third-party mail client and the zimbra server, the tools are part of the network edition:
ZCS Connector for Outlook
ZCS Connector for Apple iSync
some support for blackberry is available:
