Default Where does Zimbra want to go with docs?

    Hi,

I just tested the new docs features in Zimbra 6.0.2 (notes, spreadsheets, slides). Though it's "nice", I wonder where Zimbra wants to go from here?

The minimum feature I would request would be some export formats (to be able to import them in openoffice or ms office).

But even then. How useful is a slides app where you cannot even change the sequence of the slides? Of course you could add this in future, but how much effort would you put in to keep up with a "real" presentation application? (same with spreadsheets and docs)

Wouldn't it make more sense to use OpenOffice for realising someting like that (have no clue if that would work technically, though).

Please share your thoughts on this.

This is exactly the question I wanted to ask.

But I agree that many of the apps in Zimbra are rudimentary
    I agree, too.

For me as an ISP looking for a high-end e-mail and collaboration solution for my customers (businesses only) this feature is very important. Google, Microsoft and now even Oracle (Oracle Cloud Office Preview at Oracle OpenWorld 2010 (The Oracle Office Blog)) seem to be willing to offer full featured office suites.

It would be very interesting to know if Zimbra wants to be a real player in that market.

    Thanks

I think Zimbra should support the Document Foundation Welcome to The Document Foundation! - The Document Foundation and use libre office for this functionality. plus zimbra could improve integration with desktiop installs of libre office

Then why don't you file an RFE in bugzilla? That would be the best place to catch the developers attention not the forums.
