This is something that was brought up when I migrated my users from Outlook to the ZWC. IMO changing the subject of a message is something that Outlook allows, which it probably shouldn't. But I guess this is a matter for debate. Anyway, I think my users that wanted this "feature" ended up forwarding the message to their own email address. When you forward a message it does allow you to modify the subject. You might want to look into tagging and other Zimbra tools/functions that could help as well.

Tagging is probably not the best solution, nor is forwarding since you lose the sender information.

This might be a good subject for an RFE (allow searchable notes to be added to email by recipient). Sticky Notes | Zimbra :: Gallery might help. Not clear if you can search the notes text.

tag unfortunately is not the solution because I have to store mail in a shared mailbox
