Default Sort or filter by unread emails?

    Hi,

Is there anyway to sort or filter my inbox by unread status so that I don't have to scroll thru my emails to find that single unread email?

GO to the wik (link at the top of this page) and enter the word 'search' in the Search box - read the article. You could also read the Admin Guide on how to search in Zimbra.

Thanks. I have to use advanced search to check folder (inbox) and check status (unread) to get what I want. Hope the status column can be sorted to enhance user experience instead to better compete with Exchange.

The search function provides a user experience far superior than anything provided in Exchange.

bhwong, what you want to do is create a saved search. Type this into your search field:

    in:"inbox" is:unread

Hit return, and then click the save button to the right of the search field.

The only issues I have with this solution are that (a) the resulting saved search may not be in a screen location that's efficient for you, and (b) saved searches are served as folders to IMAP (and maybe other) clients, which you might not want.

    Thanks Ewilen.

While command line is more flexible and powerful, to expect layman such as
general end-users and customers to learn them is just not realistic. Zimbra
should have a GUI such as check boxes or options for these to make it
user-friendly enough for the mass just like (or even better) Microsoft outlook
to encourage them to switch over.

Actually, you can get the same result with the advanced search GUI, using the Folders and Status selectors. Then, as before, use Save.

I agree that setting this up is still a few too many steps for users who "just want it to work". In Apple's mail, for example, all you have to do is make sure the "read/unread" column is visible, and click the column title.

Yes, it's too many steps considered it's a commonly used feature. It need to be 1 direct click to have a more productive interface.
