Unhappy Selecting addresses from sub-folder in contacts

    Hello,

I'm facing a problem when I try to select contacts from a specific sub-folder inside Contacts.
Clicking the "To:" button, when writing the message, pops up a new window to select the contacts. In the upper right,
there's a listbox called "Show names from:" but the problem is that the list shows up only Contacts and Global Address List,
not showing the custom address book I created myself. Many of our users have plenty of contacts and they organize them
in sub-folders/new address books. Groups didn't help, as they send the message to everyone inside the group, we just want
to select a few of them.

    Screenshots to clarify the problem:

In comparasion, the MS Oulook has the same list option, but the list shows all the contact folders/sub-folders, not just the default ones.
    It's really useful for us.

Is there a way to solve that?

I think you will find that even though the drop-down shows just Contacts and not the sub-folders that you have created, the list of names that is displayed actually includes people that are in the sub-folders. You can also use the search function there to find names from these sub-folders. You also know that you can just start typing a name or address in the To: section to get an "auto-complete" list, right? Another option, if you are only want to pick people from a certain Contact sub-folder is to go into Address Book, select the appropriate Contact sub-folder, select the people in the list that you want to send to, and then right-click and choose New Email from the menu that comes up.

Yes, I realized that the "Contacts" includes all the people, even from sub-folders, but searching one by one when you have to send a message to a big number of people take some time.
Your last solution of selecting first the contacts from the sub-folder then creating the new message kind of solves the problem by now. The only inconvenience is dragging the contacts from "To" and dropping to "Cc" or "Bcc" when you need to.

So I leave that functionality as a suggestion maybe for the next versions.

    Thank you.

Yeah, I agree being able to select just the Contact sub-folder from the drop-down list could be useful.

So I leave that functionality as a suggestion maybe for the next versions.
Have you searched the Zimbra bugzilla to see if there is an open RFE for this feature? If there isn't already one there you may want to open a new request. Doubtful anyone from Zimbra will do anything just from a post in the forums. You really need to use bugzilla to get their attention.
