    Default Exporting Mail - file is incomplete

    Good morning all,

    I am attempting to export my Zimbra mail account (8GB) so I can import it into a new hosted Zimbra machine. It appears that my existing mail server stalls out while only a fraction of the way into the export process. Can anyone give me any pointers on a better way or a solution to this problem? My existing Zimbra mail server is ver. 7.02 and I am attempting to upgrade to the latest Zimbra ver. 8.02. Thank you for your help!!!

    Hi Matt.

    You don't say if you're trying to export using the webmail Preferences > Export page, or the zmmailbox commandline.

    If you're using the Webmail route, you're probably timing out because the file is so big. Try either chopping the file into smaller date ranges using the advanced options, or using the commandline. eg

    root@mail:#~ su – zimbra
    zimbra@mail:~$ /opt/zimbra/bin/zmmailbox -z -m getRestURL "//?fmt=tgz" > /tmp/user1.tgz

    Furthermore, make sure the disk you're exporting to has 8Gb of space ... as I just found out the command doesn't produce any errors, it just sits there until you cancel it.
