Symbols in Editor
I cannot figure out how to input symbols in the Zimbra web client's editor. I needed to send an email to a colleague and needed the degree symbol, but the editor wouldn't accept any ALT-nnn commands and I could not figure out any way to add the symbol. What am I missing here?
What operating system and version are you using?
Depending upon your operating system there are standard keystrokes for entering many different symbols, and you may also have a utility to select additional symbols. (If you've already tried that, please state which keystrokes).
As a workaround, you can type the Sybil you want :/ another program (for example word processor) or search for it via your browser, and copy and paste it into the email editor. If you paste via Ctrl+ Shift+V then it will paste the text without any formatting.

Copy and paste does work, but how cumbersome! I was hoping for a more direct way. I've never seen an editor lacking an "insert symbol" function, so I'm very surprised to discover Zimbra has omitted this seemingly obvious feature.
In Zimbra 8, if you're composing an HTML message you'll see an editor toolbar above the text area. If you click the 'more' link, you'll see a second line of toolbar items. The last item in the second row is an Omega symbol, which opens the symbol editor.
Yes, I just upgraded to 8 and this was one of the most welcome changes. Thank you!
