Default Mass Copy of Emails to Outside Zimbra

    Hi All,

I know this doesn't really fall under migration but it seem the best choice of options for posting location.

I need to copy emails to a windows folder to then put on a disk or thumb drive.
In Outlook I would just drag and drop the emails to a windows folder and that would be it. I have not found a way to do something similar with Zimbra.
So far the only way it seems to do this is to print to pdf each individual email, but we are talking about maybe 1000 emails.

    Zimbra 7.2.3 is being used.

Does anyone know of an easier way?

    Thank You

If you are using the Zimbra desktop you should have a default folder called local folder. You can create subfolders under this root folder and each folder will be transfered to your local harddrive.

Simply drag and drop cmessages to these folders to archive it. rules can also be set up to move messages here. testing to see if you can do this by date.

    Hope this helps.

If I were to install Zimbra Desktop, would everything load, personal folder etc? Then go from there?

You can also try the following from Zimbra WebClient.

You will need to first create a new folder and move all the email messages you want to export into that new folder. To create a new folder, in Zimbra mail, on the left side of the screen, above your list of current mailboxes, click on the folder icon. Give the folder a name, and then in the list below click once to select "Folders" and then click on OK.
Move all of the email messages that you want to export into this new folder that you just created. To move a message, click once to select the message and then click and drag it over into the new folder. If you have several messages in a row you can click on the first message and then hold down the shift key and click on the bottom message. This will select all of those messages, and then you can click and drag them into the new folder.
In Zimbra click on the PREFERENCES tab.
In the column of options on the left side of the screen, click on Import/Export.
    Under EXPORT TYPE select ACCOUNT.
Next to SOURCE click on the ALL FOLDERS button.
Scroll down to FOLDERS. If the list of folders is not expanded, click on the arrow next to FOLDERS to expand its list. Note: You may have two FOLDERS listed. If the one you expand doesn't contain your email folders, expand the other one.
Select the folder that you moved your messages into by clicking on it once, and then click on OK.
Click on the EXPORT button on the far right side of the screen.
You will receive a pop-up window. Click to choose to SAVE the file. This process will export your messages to a .TGZ file. Make note of the file name and then click on OK. Your email has now been exported to a Tar file that you can burn to CD. The file should have been downloaded to your desktop. If you cannot find the file on your desktop, go back to your Firefox browser and click on TOOLS, and then DOWNLOADS. You will see the .TGZ file in your list of downloads. You can right click it and choose OPEN CONTAINING FOLDER. This will take you to the location to where your file was downloaded.

Will you develop this feature in webclient in future updates?

In ZDesktop I can create local folders and store my old emails to this folders, but those folders can only be created in c:\ .

If I do this, I my c:\ drive breaks, I lost all my emails stored in c:\

Another feature for ZDesktop could be, If I can choose where local folders are stored ( network drive or something like that ).

    Thank you

By its nature, the web client doesn't have access to your local desktop as a storage entity, so it's unlikely this will happen. You can however export data from your Zimbra mailbox to files on your desktop via Preferences>Import & Export.
