    Default vCard - vcf attachments

    I am using Zimbra 4.01 Open Source/Fedora 4.

    When vCards are mailed to us in attachments we can see the attachment and have the option of Add to Address Book. When we click on this option nothing happens, if we try repeatedly the browser will hang.

    I would like to both be able to import and export vCards but I can not find out how. Does anyone have a fix to this bug and can someone point me to instructions on how to export vCards?

    We will be upgrading to Zimbra 4.5/Fedora 5 in the near future, will this solve the problem?

    Hmm. This should work. Lets get more info.:

    1. append "?debug=1&gzip=false&mode=mjsf" to the URL after you have logged in and reload the client.
    2. Once you see the debug window popup, open the conversation containing the vcard.
    3. Clear the contents of the debug window (click on the Clear button)
    4. click on "Add to Address Book" link
    5. Check whether there was a "CreateContactRequest" SOAP request sent out and a corresponding response back from the server. Or did the server return back an error?

    You can copy all contents in the debug windw and post it as an attachment here if you like.

    Thx.

    Default Debug Information

    Thank you for your response. I ran the debug program as stated above. I cleared the debug window before I opened the attachment. Opening the attachment yields a new window with the vCard and the Add to Address Book option. Clicking on the Add to Address Book yields no response from the debugger, no CreateContactRequest is generated. Below is the results from the debugger.

    The message parts look fine. Can you post the original message headers of the message so we can debug internally?

    Default "Show Original"

    If you have a simple sample message that causes this behavior but doesn't contain sensitive data, can you do the following?

    Right-click on the message in the message list. Select "Show Original". (A new window should pop up.) Save that new window's content to a file (File menu > Save As). Post that message to this forum using the "Manage Attachments" button in the Additional Options section of the forum post page.

    Default Not a vCard

    Code:
    Content-Type: application/ms-tnef;
    	name="winmail.dat"
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
    Content-Disposition: attachment;
    	filename="winmail.dat"
    It's actually a TNEF file that contains a vCard. You have to double-click on the expanded "message" and then you can see the embedded vCard attachment.

    Parag, is there any chance that "Add to Address Book" doesn't work in the "attached message" popup window?

    Default Ahh!

    That bit of information would've been nice to know

    Yes, "Add to Address Book" in a new window is busted. I created a new bug for this: Bug 14930.

    Regger, you can add yourself to the CC list to keep track of this bug. Hopefully, we'll have a fix for this soon!

    Thanks for the post.
