GNR on FreeBSD 7 - Zimbra :: Wiki
everything you might need for GNR-605:

1) patch,

2) FreeBSD-8_amd64 zimbra package,

3) FreeBSD-8_amd64 precompiled zimbra-rundeps,

4) FreeBSD-8_amd64 precompiled zimbra-builddeps.
sudo calls were changed back to su.

Has anybody tried GNR on FreeBSD 6.4? If so which version did you use 600 - 605? P.S. Thanks solko. I'll upgrade FreeBSD to 7.2 just for this port if I have to.

it should run on 6.x but you will have to compile for yourself. just follow the wiki.

upgrade is great idea in any case! 8.x is amazing.

I have downloaded all of the patches 601 - 605. Seems like only 601 works without a bunch of hunk failures. Does i386 have just the one patch 601 and then all is good and can I ignore the later patches because they are only for amd64?

The other thing I cannot seem to figure out is the build fails in cyrus-sasl and in openldap. I am not familiar with freebsd to know what either of those things are.

that's a very bold claim (considering the fact that i know several people including myself who are using it :)) and even more confusing without debug output - did you fetch correct zimbra version prior to applying patch? here are set of commands i issued 30 mins ago just to test your case:
setenv P4PORT codes.zimbra.com:2666

p4 -u public -P public1234 -c public-view sync -f //depot/zcs/GNR-605/...

cd (THE DOWNLOADED SOURCE)

fetch http://zimbra.imladris.sk/download/patches/GNR-605.FreeBSD.patch

cd GNR-605

patch -p1 -Cs
-C = dry run

-s = silent
no errors produced.

please, do one of the following:

a) follow the howto and/or include some debug output if you encounter failure,

b) download the binary distributions for amd64, i386 is obsolete anyway nowadays.
i don't mean to sound rude (i really do not) but WHY exactly are you using custom officially unsupported freebsd zimbra version IF you are not familliar with freebsd at all?

if you want to check it out.. linux (and i hate to say that!) versions are way easier to obtain (for example in virtualhost on your desktop).
