Well, on a short and quick reply, what I would do is to do a full backup of that server and then I would try to reinstall using a more recent version.
Also I would try to do a p2v and try it on a virtual version. Don't forget to block all incoming data flow to the server to keep it consistent.
I had a similar situation and was able to recover using this methodology, but I use virtual systems, so this will be a time consuming operation.
