WebClient Fails to Load

Postby padraig » Tue Jan 23, 2007 5:53 am
How about any installed add-ons or BHOs? Have a look in Tools/Manage Add-ons and disable what's in there and see if that changes anything. How about the Security settings for the Local Intranet, I have my setting at Medium/Low - does changing that make any difference?
What about Java, which version are you running on your system?
Hi Bill,
Tested the following:

(i) Fresh install XPSP2 no patch default ie (no Java)

set securtiy to low, turn off pop-up blocker, phishing off, accept all cookies, disable all BHO/plugins [ no other software installed ]
(ii) Patch (i) & update to ie7
(iii) install java run time 1.5_10
followed the steps in post 25 for i,ii & iii all produced error -2147418094.

using zcs 4.5 its 100% reproducible.
Thanks,

p.

if i turn off:

options -> mail -> "always compose in a new window"
the error doesn't reappear (yet!).

it must have something top do with the way ie handles the popup

compose window ??

Yes, it sounds like that could be it. That error is about a missing item for a new window, IIRC.

The thought process so far is that the error is occurring during the loading of the skin.

FYI, Bug 12347 has been fixed on the main branch.
It should make it into the next sub-release. Please vote for it if you have not already done so.
Thanks for all the comments and help.

I'm concerned about this.
According to Dan from the Bugzilla (where he resides off in the magic kingdom), there still isn't a solution to the skin bug.
I'm going to stick this because I think that it should be at the top.

We have marked this for integration into 4.5.1 so it should be in the next patch release

WebClient Fails to Load

A workaround has been posted in this issue.

It clears the cache of IE at close.
Thanks to paradraig for this:

the register setting is:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet

SettingsCache]

"Persistent"=dword:00000000
or save in file e.g. nocache.reg as:
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInternet

SettingsCache]

"Persistent"=dword:00000000

----------------------------------------------------------------------
you could this run this on login as:

regedit /s nocache.reg

With this comes the obligatory warning about editing the registry. You could break your computer and it might explode.
Okay, I made the last part up, but ya never know.

*This is not an official "Zimbra" fix, and Zimbra is not responsible if it causes your computer to break.

I know it's early on, but any rough estimate when 4.5.1 is slated to be released? We are planning on going to 4.5 the last weekend in Feb...but if we can hold off a week or 2 for 4.5.1, I might try to do that.
Just curious.
