Zmconfigd not starting Zimbra8.5.0

Postby ckruijntjens » Mon Sep 15, 2014 2:51 pm

hi there,

I reinstalled my os centos 7 and zimbra. everything works fine except the service zmconfigd wont start. i get the following error:

Starting zmconfigd.../opt/zimbra/bin/zmconfigdctl: line 94: 17418 Killed

Is this a known issue? and how to resolve this?

Thanx in advance.

Hi, sorry to hear about these issues. A couple things to check please:

1. Please check /opt/zimbra/log/zmconfigd.log - anything at the end that might be useful?

2. zmconfigd does check if any previous instances are already running - if you run a "ps auxww | grep zmconfigd", are any other zmconfigd processes currently running?

3. That "killed" entry suggests that the process may be being killed by some outside tool or script. Please check your system logs at /var/log/messages and the output of "dmesg" - anything useful there?

One other suggestion - it may be related to the IPv4/IPv6 setup described here:

https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=95204#c9

Please check if your /etc/hosts file has a line for both "127.0.0.1" and "::1", and if so and you're not using IPv6, please comment out the "::1" line and try again.

I've also been dealing with this issue and commenting out the ::1 line and also adjusting the timeout from 30 to 60 seconds didnt work either. Any other suggestions before I contact support.

ZCS version? OS? What is logged to /opt/zimbra/log/zmconfigd.log?

Zmconfigd not starting Zimbra8.5.0

Im running ZCS 8.5 with CentOS 6.4. My logs look just like the OPs....... Starting zmconfigd.../opt/zimbra/bin/zmconfigdctl: line 94: 8289 Killed

Turns out my issue with caused by some invalid items in my zimbraMtaRestriction which were actually put in by a Zimbra support tech working on another issue.  Wiped out the configuration with zmprov mcf zimbraMtaRestriction "" and then manual reentered all my configurations and zmconfigD started right up.
