Hello ,
I have checked using zmprov which says that my SMTP auth is enabled , but from remote network when i try to send an email , from my user to my user , I can send an email successfully , if smtp auth is enabled than i should not be to send an email to anyone with out password
so please tell me how to enable SMTP auth
here is output of zmprov
zmprov getServer mail.domain.net | grep Auth
zimbraMtaAuthEnabled: TRUE
zimbraMtaAuthHost: mail.domain.net
zimbraMtaAuthTarget: TRUE
zimbraMtaAuthURL: http://mail.domain.net:80/service/soap/

If that's what you are saying then that's the way SMTP works and how mail gets delivered.

ZIMBRA SMTP AUTH problem
Yes I agree with you , but if i do this
-------------------------------------------------------------------
telnet mail.domain.net 25
Trying x.x.x.x...
Connected to mail.domain.net (x.x.x.x).
Escape character is '^]'.
220 mail.domain.net ESMTP Postfix
helo syedbilalmasaud
250 mail.capeme.net
mail from:
250 2.1.0 Ok
rcpt to:
250 2.1.5 Ok
data
354 End data with .
this is unauthenticated sender
.
----------------------------------------------------------------
here i am able to send an email via telnet from my account to my account with out any password , if smtp Auth is enabled than it should not work like this
-----------------------------------------------------------------
on other hand , in my opinion smtp auth should work like this
-----------------------------------------------------------------
telnet authsmtp.domain.net 25
Trying x.x.x.x...
Connected to authsmtp.domain.net (x.x.x.x).
220 authsmtp.domain.net ESMTP Postfix (Debian/GNU)
helo bilalpc
250 authsmtp.domain.net
mail from:
250 2.1.0 Ok
rcpt to:
554 5.7.1 : Client host rejected:Access denied
-------------------------------------------------------------
if i put base64 or some other type encrypted password here than it should allow me to send an email
that what i want from zimbra , so could you please guide me how to achieve this with zimbra because I am going to deploy zimbra with in few days , so I want to make it done
Looking forward to hear from you
Cheers:D

ZIMBRA SMTP AUTH problem
i am trying to telnet from outside of my network and i am able to send an email from my@domain.net to my@domain.net with out any smtp auth restriction and same if i try from my old postfix which is running on debian and that is not allowing me to do this with out auth and what about spam assassin because in my amavisd.conf dspam is disabled means line line is commented , is it means that antispam is not working ?

As Phoenix has said that is what will happen otherwise you will not be able to receive email from people. If you try and send a email to somebody who does not exist on your server is the email being rejected or accepted ?
AntiSPAM will work; it just will not be using DSPAM.
