[SOLVED] Updating to 7.1.1 P1 (3204): java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

Postby asemenov » Tue Jun 14, 2011 8:03 am

An old testing environment was just upgraded from 7.0.0 BETA3 to 7.1.1 via 7.1.1 (3196) installer, successful. Then 7.1.1 P1 patch was applied and following http://files.zimbra.com/website/docs/7.0/ZCS%20Patch%207.1.1.pdf I tried to run
zmprov fc locale

I've got an error:

> zmprov fc locale

ERROR: service.FAILURE (system failure: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/zimbra/cs/service/admin/FlushCache$1)

>

Now the system is:

> zmcontrol -v

Release 7.1.1_GA_3196.SLES11_64_20110527125454 SLES11_64 FOSS edition.

What to do with the error above?

Did you run the zmmailboxdctl restart command first, as clearly noted in the patch guide?

Actually,
The patch guide states to run the zmprov fc locale and then restart:

The patch is delivered as a zipped tgz file.

1. Copy the patch.tgz file to your server

2. Log in as root and cd to the directory where the tar file is saved

3. Type

tar xzvf zcs_patch-.tgz

cd zcs-patch-

./installPatch.sh

4. If this patch is installed on a server with the zimbra-store package installed, the local cache must

be flushed. Type

zmprov fc locale

5. Once the patch is complete, ZCS should be restarted for changes to take effect. Type

zmcontrol restart

I noticed that error in the patch's instructions. The "zmprov fc locale" must be run after restarting Zimbra.

No, the patch instructions are incorrect. You have to run zmmailboxdctl stop;zmmailboxdctl start;zmprov fc locale;zmcontrol stop;zmcontrol start
Updated patch instructions with the correct procedure will be put online shortly.

Having `zmcontrol restart` already done after the patch have been installed, flush cache has been executed with no errors. Thank you.

[SOLVED] Updating to 7.1.1 P1 (3204): java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError

Started with 7.1.0 GA for RedHat 5 x64, upgraded to 7.1.1 and also applied the patch. Now I get this:

[zimbra@mail ~]$ zmprov fc locale

[] INFO: I/O exception (java.net.ConnectException) caught when processing request: Connection refused

[] INFO: Retrying request

ERROR: zclient.IO_ERROR (invoke Connection refused, server: localhost) (cause: java.net.ConnectException Connection refused)

in fact, any zmprov command gives the same command - I'm guessing zmconfigd is timing out?
Apache is not running.

This is CentOS 5.6 x64
EDIT: I deleted the zmconfigd.log to clear it out, when I recreated it I forgot to correct the owner and permissions on the zmconfigd.log file

[zimbra@mail ~]$ zmconfigdctl reload

Stopping zmconfigdctl...success

Stopping zmconfigd...zmconfigd is not running.

Starting zmconfigd.../opt/zimbra/bin/zmconfigdctl: line 118: /opt/zimbra/log/zmconfigd.log: Permission denied

failed.

Starting zmconfigdctl...success

Also after chown & chgrp to zimbra for the zmconfigd.log file, I noticed other files in /opt/zimbra/log/ were owned by root, so i chown & chgrp to zimbra for ./* and I still get this:

[zimbra@mail ~]$ zmprov fc local

[] INFO: I/O exception (java.net.ConnectException) caught when processing request: Connection refused

[] INFO: Retrying request

ERROR: zclient.IO_ERROR (invoke Connection refused, server: localhost) (cause: java.net.ConnectException Connection refused)
