mixed authentication scheme at OpenSource ZCS 7.1.1

Postby 8324jackson » Tue Oct 18, 2011 1:47 pm

Hello everyone.

where is zimbraAuthMech attribute in domain configuration, where I can define how users will be authenticated -- internal Zimbra LDAP, external AD or LDAP, etc.

At previous (6.x) version this attribute was possible define as Both -- in this case Zimbra first try to auth via external AD, if not -- via internal LDAP.

After upgrade to 7.1 zimbraAuthMech cann't be defined as "Both". Only zimbra, ad, ldap, kerberos5 or custom
How I can setup in 7.1 mixed authentication scheme, like it was at 6.x?

thank you for response

then I switch zimbraAuthFallbackToLocal to TRUE, in Zimbra control panel I still can't setup user password.

I still have a message in password section:

Note:These section do not affect the passwords set by users in domain that are configured to use external authentication.
It looks like I cat setup auth scheme, but can't manage password, that make this solution useless :(

Yes you can, just dont setup the password when you create the accounts, just create them without the password.
Then search for the account and change the password one by one.

no, I can not

I can't setup password during account creation, and can't as well from admin panel for existing users. In account list on right-click menu "password change" is not active, at account details as I wrote before, I saw "Note:These section do not affect the passwords set by users in domain that are configured to use external authentication."

May be somewhere should be another one parameter which allow password manage for domain with external auth.

yes, sure

where is inactive button "Change Password" :)
I can't use it, because it's inactive, like in right-click menu, and in account details as well :(

You maybe can search for bugs related to your version, or open one if you cant find one.

I just barely started getting this also. Can't right click on a user and "CHANGE PASSWORD" because it is greyed out. I haven't updated zimbra in a while, and it did work a few weeks ago. Weird.
However I did figure out a workaround.
If you simply click on ACCOUNTS on the left menu and get the user list, it doesn't work.
BUT if you go to the search bar and just hit enter it will bring up everyone in the search results and from there you can right click and change password.

Waffles, I did like you wrote -- it's work. If I got account list from search result, password change button became active.

Thank you. But seems like a bug
