OpenDKIM Filter: Unable to bind to port inet:8465

Postby slickdakine » Wed Jun 14, 2017 10:21 pm

Hi all,

I recently upgraded to 8.7.11 from 8.7.1.
Everything seems to be working fine except when I check the status of my services I get zmcontrol status:
opendkim Stopped
zmopendkimctl is not running.

When I checked /var/log/zimbra.log I found:
Jun 14 10:32:58 mail zimbramon[21080]: 21080:info: Starting opendkim via zmcontrol
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24795]: OpenDKIM Filter: Unable to bind to port inet:8465@[127.0.0.1]: Address already in use
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24795]: OpenDKIM Filter: Unable to create listening socket on conn inet:8465@[127.0.0.1]
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24795]: smfi_opensocket() failed

This repeats several times until it says:
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24803]: OpenDKIM Filter: Unable to bind to port inet:8465@[127.0.0.1]: Address already in use
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24803]: OpenDKIM Filter: Unable to create listening socket on conn inet:8465@[127.0.0.1]
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24803]: smfi_opensocket() failed
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24793]: exited with status 69, restarting
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24804]: OpenDKIM Filter: Unable to bind to port inet:8465@[127.0.0.1]: Address already in use
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24804]: OpenDKIM Filter: Unable to create listening socket on conn inet:8465@[127.0.0.1]
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24804]: smfi_opensocket() failed
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24793]: exited with status 69, restarting
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24805]: maximum restart rate exceeded
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24793]: exited with status 69, restarting
Jun 14 10:32:59 mail opendkim[24793]: maximum restart rate exceeded

Its almost like there are two OpenDKIM instances running. I did a netstat -tulpn | grep 8465:
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:8465 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 12525/opendkim

Which shows the services is listening on the port, even though its status is showing stopped.
I tried removing DKIM and then re-enabling it along this, but it still is showing stopped:

Any ideas on what to try next?

Thanks!

Hi Dualboot,

I stopped the MTA and AMAVIS:
zmamavisdctl stop
zmmtactl stop

Then made sure they were stopped:
zmcontrol status:
amavis Stopped
amavisd is not running.
antispam Stopped
zmamavisdctl is not running
antivirus Stopped
zmamavisdctl is not running
ldap Running
logger Running
mailbox Running
memcached Running
mta Stopped
zmsaslauthdctl is not running
postfix is not running
opendkim Stopped
zmopendkimctl is not running.
proxy Running
service webapp Running
snmp Running
spell Running
stats Running
zimbra webapp Running
zimbraAdmin webapp Running
zimlet webapp Running
zmconfigd Running

Then I ran:
netstat -tulpn | grep 8465
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:8465 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 12525/opendkim

Also should add that I sent a test email to gmail, and in the header it passes DKIM:
ARC-Authentication-Results: i=1; mx.google.com; dkim=pass
It also lists my dkim key and etc... and shows its all passed and working?

Any other ideas? I've tried killing the process but another is instantly created.

Thanks!

EDIT: This problem would persist through reboots of the server.
This is how I finally solved it...

Stopped all Zimbra services with zmcontrol stop

Then I looked for the problem opendkim process:
netstat -tulpn | grep 8465
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:8465 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 12525/opendkim

I then did:
killall opendkim

This completely stopped all the opendkim processes.

I confirmed this by running netstat -tulpn | grep 8465
which showed no processes running or ports being used.

Then I started everything backup with with zmcontrol start.

For some reason, now opendkim starts like it should, even through reboots.
Thanks for the help all.
