postfix does not start: reports Queue report unavailable - mail system is down

Hi,

I know this is an old post. I have had the same problem with Zimbra running all versions since 8.0.6 on Ubuntu 12 and 14 LTS. I run three servers and they all do it from time to time. I use split DNS and bind, I did have some DDOS DNS triggering on the firewall for outbound DNS on a restart but that has been resolved.

I've put in a 10 sec delay start on Zimbra to make sure bind is up before start.

I am picking up the error with nagios and nrpe checking the mailq and I am considering a restart watchdog using this method.

root@ft-zim1:~# cat /etc/nagios/nrpe_local.cfg
command[check_zimbra_mailq]=/usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_mailq -w 10 -c 20 -M postfix
cat /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/utils.pm
$PATH_TO_MAILQ = "/opt/zimbra/postfix/sbin/mailq";

I would really like to get to the root cause. Has anyone else experienced or resolved this issue?

I have run up a CENTOS version of Zimbra

zcs-8.7.11_GA_1854.RHEL7_64.20170531151956
