Adding invite to a meeting causes loop

Postby dljordaneku » Tue Jan 31, 2012 8:28 am

Our City Clerk manages the calendar for our mayor and she put an appointment on his calendar last week for a meeting this week. She went in this morning and invited someone else to the meeting. When she added the invite, the recipient's mailbox went nuts. He received the invite well over 2,000 times and when she canceled the meeting, he got the cancellation well over 2,000 times.
The only way I was able to stop the loop was to restart the Zimbra services. I've looked through the mailbox log and seen these entries several times.

Adding invite to a meeting causes loop

Postby dljordaneku » Tue Jan 31, 2012 3:36 pm

Any thoughts or ideas? I had our clerk recreate the meeting and it did the same thing so I would really like to get this fixed. Thanks.

Are you really running version 6.0.2?
I'd recommend upgrading to a newer, supported version and see if the issue is fixed.

No sorry I didn't saw this information's. The server is fresh installed with the latest version 8.6.0_GA_1153.RHEL7_64_20141215151110 RHEL7_64
But the problem look similar.

Should I create a new Thread for this? (It's only copy paste, I think this will not help)

In the meantime I have some other problems maybe related to this. I think there are a lot of silent logic running in the background when it comes to appointments with attendees which differs from other mail servers and even from mail clients like Thunderbird. This silent logic causes to flood attendees like described without the knowledge of the appointment creator.

You should not add posts to old threads as you're likely to be using a newer version of ZCS, you should always create new thread, as you've already done and I've already deleted the one you posted here earlier as a duplicate of your new thread. Just add the same information to that thread (if you think you need to) as it may be symptom aic of the same problem.

Sorry about being in a time warp.
A show original for the calendar items and perhaps the invitation messages sent out might provide a clue.
If you can watch and give a step by step recipe for creating the problem?

Hi,

in the meantime I investigated the problem to reproduce it. The problem came from Thunderbird, when you select all appointments and hit delete it sends automatically without any warning a cancel notifications as mail which typically floods the people when you select 4000+ appointments and hit delete :-(

So now is the question: How can I delete the appointments without sending notifications. Here I started a thread in the Thunderbird forum, but this is also a Zimbra question because if I don't use Thunderbird as client and use the WebInterface how can I solve this there.

Here is the Link to the Thunderbird Question: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3008327
Here is the Link to the Zimbra Question: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=59630

Thanks for the help
cheers
