Unable to start Zimbra

Hi,

This night I restarted the Zimbra server due to a kernel update (via APT), and Zimbra is now refusing to start. Seems to be something with the control process itself. If I simply try to stop Zimbra with 'service zimbra stop', the output is the following:

Host
Stopping vmware-ha...skipped.
/opt/zimbra/bin/zmhactl missing or not executable.
Stopping zmconfigd...sh: 1: cannot create zmcontrol.out.afeqw: Permission denied
cat: zmcontrol.out.afeqw: No such file or directory
Failed.

Stopping zimlet webapp...sh: 1: cannot create zmcontrol.out.afeqw: Permission denied
cat: zmcontrol.out.afeqw: No such file or directory
Failed.

Stopping zimbraAdmin webapp...sh: 1: cannot create zmcontrol.out.afeqw: Permission denied
cat: zmcontrol.out.afeqw: No such file or directory
Failed.

Stopping zimbra webapp...sh: 1: cannot create zmcontrol.out.afeqw: Permission denied
cat: zmcontrol.out.afeqw: No such file or directory
Failed.
......

And it proceeds giving this message for all Zimbra processes. If I try to start it, It dies with:

root@flanders:/opt/zimbra/data/amavisd# service zimbra start
Host
Connect: Unable to determine enabled services from ldap.
Enabled services read from cache. Service list may be inaccurate.
Starting ldap...sh: 1: cannot create zmcontrol.out.hVBlu: Permission denied
Done.
cat: zmcontrol.out.hVBlu: No such file or directory
Failed.

All partitions are OK and read/write. I've found relevant info in the log files.

Could somebody help me?

Platform in use:
Ubuntu 14.04
Zimbra release: Release 8.6.0.GA.1153.UBUNTU14.64 UBUNTU14_64 FOSS edition, Patch 8.6.0_P1.
Running inside a Xen VM, with 8GB RAM,
280GB for /opt,
1GB tmpfs for /opt/zimbra/data/amavisd/tmp

Note: the kernel was updated to linux-headers-3.13.0-155-generic:amd64

Tks,

Hi,

I had the same error with 8.8.9.
Removing -155 kernel (and running with older -153) everything works again.

Tks, that was really the problem. I had -147 still installed and booted with that one. It solved the problem. Since uptime is more critical, I will update to -153 in a maintenance windows, soon.

Tks a lot. You saved my day.

This is also happening under Zimbra 8.7.11. I've reverted to the previous kernel.
