Zimbra & Linux Kernel 3.13.0-155 & Java...

Postby DavidMerrill » Thu Aug 16, 2018 12:59 pm

Anyone run into Zimbra/Java issues with the latest kernel update?

I think I’m running into what’s being reported here:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour ... ug/1787127

Not seeing any new kernel updates from Ubuntu, rebooting a couple Zimbra servers to the previous kernel as a work-around.

Thanks,
David

There are a couple of recent posts in this forum on the subject and, yes, reverting to a previous kernel fixed their problem.

To follow-up I purged version 3.13.0-155 of the kernel, ran an "update-grub" (to make SURE the machine was ready to boot a previous version of the kernel) and rebooted. All services came back up.

I just wanted to add to this discussion that I was having issues with that kernel version as well. I did as David Merrill and purged, update grub, reboot. Issue resolved.

Anyone know if this will be fixed in future versions of the Ubuntu 14.04 kernel? since i tried upgrading Zimbra on 14.04 and it failed like in this and another thread.
I restored from snapshot and just did an apt-get get update instead of apt-get dist-upgrade so the new kernel did not get install and Zimbra is upgraded and working fine.

I noticed that my system now wants to update to kernel version .13.0-157, but this thread talks about 3.13.0-155, believe i tried 3.13.0-156 and it was broken too, anyone tried 3.13.0-157 yetÉ

Wouldn't that question be best directed to the Ubuntu forums/mailing lists?

I guess so, but then should'nt this whole thread be on the Ubuntu forum? :) ... Also i will try to find the time to test the 157 kernel and let everyone here know if it works or not on my system.

No it shouldn't. This is a thread and a heads-up for people that have encountered the bug in the Ubuntu kernel that was mentioned in the first post. Read the bug report and see if it's been fixed.
