As far as I know Jorge de la Cruz is not with Zimbra community anymore. He is at Veeam for more that two years.

So it *will* help, mdb_copy will create a non-sparse file exactly the size of your database, which you can then conveniently backup using non-sparse file aware tools.

Once you put it back in place and slapd opens it, slapd will turn it into a 80 GB sparse file again, so no problem for restore/recovery either.
