How to connect Zimbra server to non-Zimbra mail server (hoster) via POP3/SMTP

Postby shal » Wed Apr 18, 2012 2:26 am

Hi, we are trying to migrate to Zimbra Open Source Edition.
Our IP and subnet of class C (!) is blacklisted.

ISP does not provide a mail relay and we do not have another ISP.

End users must work with Zimbra via web interface.
So the only way to get emails delivered is to

connect Zimbra server to mail server of our hoster via POP/SMTP.
Is there such options in Zimbra to fetch emails via POP3 and send via SMTP.
Hoster allows to use the same account (postmaster@oursite.com) for outgoing emails from all *@oursite.com addresses.

Thanks in advance.
PS

I can not believe that nobody else has the same problem with IP and ISP.

Hi Alex,
I have a similar problem, I'm not blacklisted as such but my service provider will not allow MX records for my Zimbra 8 / ubuntu LTS 12.10 to be on there servers. I am only allowed to connect to there email service, so i need to pull email from there's to mine. hope some one can help either of us. I have been trying to find a work around for a month, now my trial of zimbra has expired so no support from VMware's Zimbra team.
Email Settings for service provider
Incoming Mail
Type: POP3
Server: pop.dodo.com.au
Port: 110

Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
Server: smtp.dodo.com.au
Port: 25
Cheers..

This is usually the case, when you have consumer-grade internet.

Yes, the corporate line costs a lot more, but you should get an IP which isn't blacklisted.

Sounds to me like you should choose another ISP.

Do you actually own the domain to which you are trying to host the mail for?

Otherwise the service provider shouldn't really have any say about what you place in your MX entries.

I asked ISP to change IP (we have corporate line). Then I wrote 2-3 emails to blacklist holders with removal request. They all removed our IP within a week.

And since July we have had no problem with delivering.

I blocked 25 port in router for all users in the office. we all use only web interface.
As for POP/SMTP - sorry I did not try.
