[SOLVED] Disable WebSnapr but keep url's

Postby bertie_uk » Wed Mar 21, 2007 5:49 am

I want to disable the URL links websnapr preview on mouse over.
I can do this by disabling the URL zimlet in the admin COS, but that disables links too.
Would it be possible to extract the websnapr preview into it's own zimlet?
Or can I modify the URL zimlet somehow to stop it?
We have security issues with the websnapr caching internal use websites (hidden sections) when we email links to staff members.

I'm not a coder but you should be able to modify the zimlet to disable the websnapr code, have a look in the wiki for some pointers.

[SOLVED] Disable WebSnapr but keep url's

Postby bertie_uk » Wed Mar 21, 2007 7:31 am

Well I read through all the Zimlet documentation, found the com_zimbra_url.zip, hacked the config, xml, url.js to bits, undeployed and redeployed endlessly and still the damn websnapr popup! Even with all the code deleted from the js!
Hope someone who knows more can help me out...

[SOLVED] Disable WebSnapr but keep url's

I didn't get anywhere with it. It may have been because I didn't restart Tomcat each time, but I did undeploy and then deploy the zimlet each time I changed something. And I then had to enable the Zimlet in Zimbra admin.
When I was making changes and deploying this way, things did change, but essentially I had two results; websnapr popup and URL's or neither (like when disabled)
I feel it needs someone with Zimlet experience to look at this, but it's not a bug or priority.

Speaking of this websnapr thingy. I suppose its suppose to show a thumbnail of a linked website. Why do I only get blank white content or a message stating "thumbnail has been queued". Might be neat if it worked. Do I have something incorrect in my setup? Or better question since I haven't touched any settings related to "zimlets" is: what do I need to configure?

Yes, it's supposed to provide a preview of the link (it's a free service, BTW), details here. Problems, questions - you can try bugzilla.

Does it usually work reliably? I won't bother disabling it if they're just having a bad day.

I've been using zimbra for a couple of months and I can't recall

ever seeing it work successfully.
