can someone explain me the difference between cli item and cli message?

Postby manfred.gipp » Wed Nov 18, 2015 6:40 am

With CLI i have different possibilities to access to elements in zimbra.

appointment, contact, conversation, filter, folder, message, right, search, tag AND item.

But i dont know what "item" means.

I can delete, flag, mark, modify, move, recover, and tag an item.

Is this any of the above elements (appointment, contact ...)?

Is there anybody who can explain me this special cli command?

Many thanks

Manfred

Hi manfred,

Guess you mean "zmmailbox".

I wasn't aware of this, but you ask.. and i took a time to test...

Item could be a message, an appointment or a contact and can be referenced by id.

Don't have a clue about why zimbra make this difference.

Hi ccelis,

many thanks for your answer.

Yes, you are right with your "Guess".[Y]

That was exactly what I had suspected and tested.

There must be a difference. Because of treating messages.

Messages are currently separated in to categories. "messages" and "conversations". When i want to move a message i have to take care about this difference. Currently it is not possible to move one message which is inside a conversation. In this case all messages within a conversation are moved.

I have to test this with item. But I fear that the result will be the same.

Manfred
