Install yields "Failed to inject zimlets" error message; ZDesktop doesn't run

Postby jvargas92 » Mon Aug 13, 2007 5:54 pm

This happened with both the .51 and .53 versions. Every time that I try and install the application on my MacPro (OS X 10.4.10) I get the following error message:
"Failed to inject zimlets. Some features may be missing."
If I try and launch the Zimbra desktop I get a 503 error and Zimbra Desktop doesn't launch.
Even manually stopping and starting the service does nothing since there seems to be a deeper problem.
Using FF 2.0.0.6...
The mailbox.log produces the following:

Install yields "Failed to inject zimlets" error message; ZDesktop doesn't run

Yep-

It's a bug. Since zimlets aren't really used yet, you can just ignore the error.

Is the an "upgrade"?

You have to follow the instructions for removing your former versions.

Zimbra Desktop still won't launch. The errors continue, and this is not an upgrade. I had installed a previous version, but uninstalled because of performance issues.
I have also manually deleted the com.zimbra.ZimbraDesktopLaunchd.plist from the LaunchAgents directory before re-installing this (I've uninstalled it and re-installed it several times in hopes of getting it running, but no luck).

Which version of java are you using on Mac? It seems it doesn't like the jar compression format. Thanks!

The error messages mean that java somehow fails to open some of the jars. This can only mean two things. Either the jars are corrupted during or after the installation (which is highly unlikely), or the java version being used doesn't understand pack200 jar compression (a more aggressive way to reduce jar file sizes). That's why I was asking about your java version because pack200 is only supported by 1.5 or above.
Given that you seem to have the right java version, the next thing I would try is to use command line jar tool to try to open the jars under /Users/tuser/zimbra/zdesktop/jetty/webapps/service/WEB_INF/lib. Thanks!

The exact java version is "1.5.0_07".
What command should I run to try and test/run the jar files?
Running java -jar zimbraoffline.jar yields the following message:
Failed to load Main-Class manifest attribute from

zimbraoffline.jar

Thanks for the help!
