upgrading after failed upgrade help?

Postby nfear24 » Sat May 09, 2009 11:54 pm

I installed zcs beta 6 on my 5.0.14 installation and it caused too many problems during install. So I restored from my backup and for some reason when I try to upgrade to 5.0.16 it says Downgrading to version 5.0.16 from 6.0.0 is not supported. What the heck did I do? haha
Thanks Nick

What, exactly, did you do to restore from your backup? Your backup should have contained the complete contents of the /opt/zimbra directory, did it?

Its a testing server so not critical. But I did my normal restore. Removed the old /opt/zimbra directory and moved in my backup. Then I get this when I am running 5.0.14 and trying to upgrade to 5.0.16. Even if I dont have /opt/zimbra anymore and just try to install 5.0.14 I still get that:

zimbra-ldap...FOUND zimbra-ldap-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

zimbra-logger...FOUND zimbra-logger-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

zimbra-mta...FOUND zimbra-mta-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

zimbra-snmp...FOUND zimbra-snmp-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

zimbra-store...FOUND zimbra-store-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

zimbra-apache...FOUND zimbra-apache-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

zimbra-spell...FOUND zimbra-spell-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

zimbra-proxy...NOT FOUND

zimbra-archiving...NOT FOUND

zimbra-convertd...NOT FOUND

zimbra-cluster...NOT FOUND

zimbra-core...FOUND zimbra-core-6.0.0_BETA1_1397.UBUNTU8

Where is it getting this information from even if there isn't a /opt/zimbra directory?

If this is a test server then what you need to do is the following:

1. Remove the current ZCS 6 with ./install.sh -u - that will remove everything.
2. Next, run the installer (using the same version of Zimbra as your backup) with the -s option: ./install.sh -s
3. Remove the newly created directory: rm -rf /opt/zimbra
4. Restore your backed-up directory
5. As root run the /opt/zimbra/libexeczmfixperms utility
6. When that's done run the installer again: ./install.sh
That should get you back to a working system of your previous version.
It gets the package information from your package database.
