Hello,


I've had a couple of my email users complain about HTML formatting displaying in the text body of their email.   It doesn't occur consistently and I can't figure out a common cause.


Here is an example (names changed to xxxxx)


Hi xxxxxx,<br><br>Thank you for your email!<br><br>I know you are super busy and do not like to bother you, but I think I need a memory stick to back up my Mac. &nbsp;Do we have any at the office? &nbsp;If so, feel free to leave one on my desk. &nbsp;I am trying to work 6-9:30 am this week.<br><br>Thanks,<br>xxxxxxxx


Like I said, this has occurred once for two separate users. 2 different emails, sent to different users on different days.  Other emails sent from these two users appear fine.


Any ideas on why an Zimbra email would display HTML formatting on one email but not another?



I'm running Zimbra Network Ed. 8.6 Patch 3

Hello!

I have the same problem here :(

When user tryuing to reply to somebody, he has a lots <br> in text.

After applying the patch 3 to 8.6 we started getting reports of this as well. Haven't been able to figure out whats causing it yet though.

It seems that it happens when replying to an email and not when composing a new email (so far). Our work around for the two users who have had it happen is to switch to composing in text instead of html.



Here is an example from our user (with some snipping):

Sounds like this might be fixed...just not sure if this is exactly what we're seeing:

Its supposed to be fixed in patch 4 which is several week out still.

It is fixed like you said in the upcoming Patch 4.

I applied Patch 4 last week and this morning I have 2 different people that still are seeing HTML code in their emails. It seems to show in email replies and not in initial / original emails.

Bill,<br><br>I have added these charge codes.<br><br>Would you please let me know what loaded amounts you would like for me to use as the cost for each of the four labor lines?<br><br>Thanks,<br>Lauren



What additional information is needed to troubleshoot this?

Thats not good...I just patched Friday night and emailed all the users who reported problems this morning that it should be fixed.

Yup, just got confirmation that its still happening when they tried switching back to composing in html:



"Dear Name,<br><br>If I don't make it by this time, by 2pm I will be there. I hope this is convenient.<br><br>Thanks<br><br>"

Bugzilla – Bug 99874

Extra <br> tag gets added in compose body while changing Format As HTML



I went to Bugzilla and tried to re-open. But it still says "Status: VERIFIED FIXED"



How can we get this re-opened or new Bugzilla case open? This issue is causing concerns among my customer base.



Help!
