Why does this app use ActiveSync? Why not use the AJAX/SOAP backend like the web client does? The whole reason I was hoping for a zimbra-specific app was to overcome the limitations of ActiveSync. Why keep building on a protocol meant for Exchange servers?
You might try Z-Push (Z-Push - open source push technology) with the Zimbra backend (Z-Push Zimbra Backend | Free software downloads at SourceForge.net). Z-Push is an open source implementation of the ActiveSync protocol. We have tested it with the Open Source version of Zimbra and e-mail clients running on Android, SymbianOs and iOS-based cell phones. E-mail push and calendar and contacts synchronization worked quite well. Tasks synchronization works well when the client application supports ActiveSync.
