    Default Office 2013 Support

    Hello

It seems Outlook Connector doesn't support Office 2013 for now. Is there a plan to release an update in near time? Or can i get somehow the existing connector to work?

    Regards

The place to find out information like that would be in bugzilla.
    Regards

It would be a huge slap in the face to Mac users if VMware rolls out Office '13 support before Office '11 support!

There's a BIG difference between Office 2011 and Office 2013.

Office 2011 works with "Exchange Web Services" and needs a license to be implemented (server-side).
Office 2013 works with "ActiveSync", which is already licensed (since ZCS 8.0).

    Outlook 2013 support should be in 8.0.3 : https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=77256

I don't think (but might be wrong and would like to be wrong) Outlook 2011 will ever supported (because of EWS).
There's also the question of the next Office for Mac: will it need EWS or switch to ActiveSync? My guess goes to the second.

Well, after over 2 years of silence on this issue, it would be very helpful if VMWare would clarify this rather than sweeping it under the rug, and hoping people don't notice until it's too late.

Thanks by the way, Klug for the info. I was not aware that M$ had taken a different approach in 2011... The Mac development team at M$ can now partake in the abuse I'm getting from my users!

    Check John's today: https://bugzilla.zimbra.com/show_bug.cgi?id=38631
They're in discussion with Microsoft about the licensing, support for Outlook 2011 is in the top 3 considered features for ZCS 9.0.

Maybe I was wrong then 8)

Yeah... But again, my company does it's business based on commitments to delivery schedules, and those dates are important. As a software developer, I understand that releasing software has become a whole lot less strict in the past decade, but some kind of a target date would be valuable in our assessment of how long we can wait...

Our guys were testing this with the Preview Release of Office 2013 and everything worked with our version of Zimbra Server (7.1.4). However, they started having problems shortly after Office 2013 was released to public.
This issue is identified in Bug 79317 – Outlook 2013 - LSMSSP loading error after Windows update

We have also just upgraded to Zimbra 8.0.2 and issues were still occurring.
However, it also seems the workaround suggested in response to this bug fixes some of the issues.

Our users are now using ZCO with Outlook 2013 without any major problems.

When I saw Outlook 2013 was including ActiveSync support, my hope was that the ZCO would no longer be required for use of Outlook with Zimbra. From the discussion here and reading the bugzilla entries, it's not clear to me whether that's the intent. Anyone know if ZCO is being updated to work with Outlook 2013 and will use ActiveSync as the transport, or if Zimbra's ActiveSync support is being updated to work with Outlook 2013 natively, and thus no longer require ZCO installation for Outlook users?
